    The memory that won’t fade.

*Beginning Note: This has been one of the toughest stories to share…EVER! But I knew that it needed to be shared in hopes of helping someone else who may be facing this same situation or one like it. Or for someone who may not know what to believe anymore. Thanks for reading. It’s not always on my mind but there are times when the images appear as if it all happened yesterday. Since it is a topic more discussed recently within politics it seems the images are with me daily. No matter what I do, I can’t run away from them. Not that I try – as it seems that…

    The path less traveled.

It seemed like a nice day for a walk to me…. My dog, Nina, thought it was. Although, she thinks every minute of every day is good for a walk. 22 degrees and snow blowing all around…what’s not to love, right?! Question: Who else here get’s frustrated when they have to share a trail with others? Be honest! I don’t like to share a trail. It’s not because I am that much of a hermit (or whatever word you would use) but I like to let Nina off her leash. And, if you know Nina, you know I have somehow turned her into an “introverted” dog. Either that or she…

    Uprising.

Funny story – I had a whole post already written before this one. All I had left to do were edits, picture inserts, and posting. And then…I deleted it.😱 “Why would you do that?!” I know! Tell me about it! At the time the topic came to mind for the other post I knew it was God trying to work something out in me. I thought he had finished that work and I was ready to go. Apparently I was wrong. I believe he stalled me from posting that previous topic for a specific reason. That reason came in a dream. (Yes, God can speak through dreams…see below for just…

    You can keep your religion.

This probably won’t sit well with most. But I’m not really here to make sure things sit well with anyone, am I? I told you I would be real, honest, and hopefully say the things that are on most of our minds but not one person speaks about. That’s the thing with living “behind the screen” – I can say what I want with all the bravery I wish I had when not “behind the screen”.  An introvert such as myself needs time to process the correct words I desire to speak to communicate my point clearly and with all the emotion I feel. It’s typically a lengthy and drawn…

    Veering off the path.

It was a beautiful fall day. One of my most treasured activities in life is being able to take my big dog, Nina, out for walks. Nina is a greyhound/lab mix. She’s pure white and absolutely stunning. Being the mix she is she loves to run! Sad thing that it is she is getting old, 11 right now, and her poor body can’t keep up with her puppy like mind. On this gorgeous day I decided to find the nearest dirt road. The dirt road we found wasn’t often traveled so it made for a perfect spot to let Nina off the leash. Honestly, I love just being able to…

    Tattooed, pierced, and loved.

How does church make you feel? Weird first question? Perhaps. I want to know how you feel about it. Do you feel uncomfortable? Why? (**I would love feedback here…in comments!**) I’ve been there. Heck, sometimes I’m still there. For me it is because I feel like people can see me (duh…right?). I don’t like people looking at me because I feel like they are judging me in some way. In my early church days I would do whatever would make me blend in the most. Whatever those around me were doing I would do. This way I would be safe from judgement. I couldn’t wait to “put my time in”…

    A broken wing.

We’ve all been there. Its 7:43 AM and you are rushing out the door. The commute to work takes roughly 15 minutes if you go slightly above the speed limit. You know, as long as there are no surprises along the way, you will arrive just on time. God is good! Right? Or am I wrong? Because as soon as you get to thinking “oh yea, definitely gonna make it on time”, BAM! Old lady McGee pulls out in front of you and it’s plain to see she isn’t in any hurry.  (no offense Mrs. McGee:)) Now, of course we do what we do. Depending on who you are and…

    Roller coaster faith.

It just keeps coming up. The darkness within me. Everyone has it. We are made new in Christ when we are saved but darkness lingers still. Those little black fingers of Satan try to grip your heart and your mind. As soon as he gets a little pinch of you your past starts flooding back reminding you of when you cheated, lied, spewed unkind words, had an abortion, gave up on your faith, [enter your sin here]. And, if you are suited in God’s armor then you know you are under attack. Satan attacks those who are sold out to Jesus. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls…

    It’s been a while…

Well…hello there. Long time it has been. There’s a perfectly good explanation, I promise. Want to delve deeper with me? Find out what has been going on and why I’ve been MIA? Of course you do…I mean…who wouldn’t! Disclaimer: This post will be full of ramblings and probably a hot mess. I’m OK with it.  First things first. Buying, selling, moving. (short version) We listed our home in hopes of it selling in the summer that way kids were out of school and schedules were less hectic. Have you ever heard that God’s timing is not our timing? He’s one funny guy because our house sold in two days! (insert panic…

    Victory in the valley.

You’ve been there. In the midst of a dark valley. The fog hangs over your head. Picture it. Look around. Can you see it? Rough walls on either side. The stillness. The quite. Left and right are not options. It’s either going back to where you just came from or trekking through to what lies ahead. Which direction will you choose? Or will you not move at all? Do you become paralyzed? Are you exhausted? Overwhelmed? Doubtful? We all go through these valley’s in life. We aren’t always on the highs of the mountain tops. I firmly believe that if it wasn’t for the valley’s in life we would never…
